Steve & Leanne - 19th Sept 2009
Leanne is a great girl, religiously reads my blog and always drops me a mail to say hi. I'd hoped therefore she'd have a fab day and thankfully fine weather was on our side, which is always good for those who have a classic soft top car hey!
I was over in Drybrook, Gloucestershire for this weekends wedding, which isn't my normal stomping ground but offered a change of scenery and a new reception venue to visit;
Bishopswood House. It was actually a short hop over the boarder into Herefordshire for the wedding reception, along a very windy road. (why tell us that Matt you ask?) Well, tight bends and stretched limos really don't go hand in hand I found out, having followed the driver along the route to the venue!
The day went really well though, if not a little manic for me with only an hour to photograph wedding groups, couple shots, reception drinks & a selection of room details too! Ahhhhrrrrrrggggghhh!
Not a normal opening photo this, but simple and bold. Steve & Leanne are having an album designed by me so I often include plenty of details to enhance the story of the day. This and the blusher brushes photo below being fine examples.
Socks and shorts? Is it only me that thinks dad hasn't exactly dressed correctly for the occasion? Lovely guy.....made me a cuppa tea the minute I met him too, which is always a tick in my book at 10am in the morning.
The ever so tickley blusher brushes.
11:55, or for the old school amongst us, five 2 twelve? Something tells me that clock may not have been right (what with a noon ceremony?)
Thankfully Leanne chose not to wear pink pants under her dress - well, she'd be thankful if she stood in front of a very bright light source anyhow.
Yep, that's the ohh so very glam 'sweaty arm pits' towel being passed across. It's not the first time I've seen it, and sure won't be the last. Wedding days get hot you know!
Holy Trinity Church in Drybrook.
I like this quiet moment the vicar is having before the ceremony. he was a great guy to and allowed photography during the majority of the ceremony.
Whose arrival was it dad??? Yours or the bride? Love the sat nav on the windscreen.....not exactly in keeping with the age of the car hey!? Apparently this is the same pink Cadillac Girls Aloud had for their photo shoot too.
There were a few tears for this ceremony.....fab, plenty to photograph....I love it.
At this point it's worth noting: I'm not always allowed to take photos from the front of the church or a videographer may have taken the prime slot, leaving me a second option, typically not as good (but that's a story for another day). On this occasion the considerate vicar did allow photography from the front and I happened to be on the right side as the couple kissed.
As a result this is quite possibly my favourite photo from the day. Real, pure emotion, nothing staged, just a moment to themselves. This is when photography is timeless and I feel my job gives me the unique opportunity to capture something that happens in a split second that would otherwise be missed. I've also included a series of photos taken seconds after this one above, as I believe they too add to the overall moment - so sweet.
Surely not more tears. Thank goodness for kleenex.
This is what signing of the register photos should look like (not two people smiling falsely at me with a random pen in their hand). Steve looking at Leanne is again priceless, along with the tender moment afterwards.
"ohh Steve, I like your aftershave - what is it?"
You get the idea that pink was the theme right?
