March....the heatwave

What a fab month March was, loads of warm days, no rain, just fun in the sun.  And what could be more fun than to take the kids for a walk in the woods to make the most of it.

Barney spent as much time as possible 'jumping'.  Daisy meanwhile attempted to rid the while woodland of pine cones!

A weekend in Appledore, Devon

Last weekend we paid a visit to Ali's sister's home in Devon.  Our kids got to see their cousins and I got to go to the beach - wahoooooooooo!    However, I didn't take any photos at the beach, instead I enjoyed the moment......walking in the water with my kids, fishing in the rock pools and running in the dunes.

Sometimes you have to leave your camera behind and just enjoy the now.

Barney is a puzzle master.  He's currently on the 3-6 year old puzzles, which isn't bad for a boy who's only just turned three.

'High Five' anyone who's completed a puzzle!

You're lucky this photo in no way conveys sound - OMG....not for the faint hearted or those who don't have kids!  Certainly not a relaxing Sunday morning with coffee & the newspaper (or is it an ipad now for news catch-up?)

The newest addition to Aunty Charlie's household - Libby 9 months.

It looks so serene in black & white.

Barney is fast becoming a good photographer himself too.

The quay view from Appledore.

Get the sledges out.....it's snowing in Cheltenham

We had to react quickly today after the late sprinkling of snow. There was probably insufficient snow for effective sledging, but knowing it'll be gone by the morning we headed out none the less.

Barney and I have matching winter hats and with the super chill today it was perfect headgear.

The boys.......

....were on a woodland adventure today.  Barney & his buddy Alfie tackled Crickley Hill in search of Dinosaurs and the Gruffalo.

Family portraits in the park, Cheltenham

I find myself taking more family portraits at this time of year once weddings quieten down a little.  I'm sure we do stuff in the summer months, but never find the time to post pics then!  Last week we were out in the park with my trusty 5D2 and a 50mm lens.....such a sweet combo for a few simple family portraits whilst out and about with the kids and not wanting to lug around much gear.

There is a good reason why Barney is wearing a helmet......and it's not in case he falls off this climbing/swing 'thing'!

One happy boy on his balance bike.  What a great idea these are. Forget learning with stabilisers anymore, just learn to balance first, then add pedals later.

Puddles....why wouldn't you wanna jump in it?

Dark at about 4:30 - yuck.  Handy for this shot though.

If you're looking for a few family portraits in Cheltenham, give me a call.

Family Portraits Cheltenham

Autumnal family portraits in Cheltenham

Having had two weddings to photograph this weekend, Sunday natural needed to be a day for relaxing.  What's better than Sunday lunch, followed by a walk in the park?  Well, ideally a walk in the park without the rain shower, but you can't have it all :-)

Pittville Park is great for scooting around (super smooth).......apparently Ali used to roller skate around here as a child too.

The wonderful Pittville Pump Room.

A mix of sun and rain does usually bring one good thing though - a super sunset across Cheltenham on our return.

If you're looking for some family portraits in Cheltenham please drop me a line.

Sennen Beach, Cornwall - Surf 'o' rama.

Sennen Beach, Cornwall.  Holidaying....yay :-)

Daisy wanted a few surf lessons from me.

Not bad.....if aided considerably by me and some sand beneath the board!

The whole ocean yet they wanted daddy to build them a paddling pool.

How old is Matt Davis?

'twas my birthday today and I reached the ripe old age of 35.......although Daisy will have you to believe I'm 45.  I'll have you know though, it's not due to the wrinkles or because I asked for swim goggles, but the fact she's just learning her  BIG numbers - phew!

Anyway, as with all the best birthdays it started with a lie in, followed by great food and fine company.......plus a yummy cake.
