Photographing a friends wedding

Last weekend I attended my friends (Alec & Victoria's) wedding in London. This time I was a guest, rather than the photographer, which to be honest is something of a novelty. My wife kept referring to it as a busman's holiday, as you may have guessed, 'cause my camera did come along (although only one camera and a restriction of 3 lenses).

It's good fun shooting without the need to produce images that fulfill a brief and also spend time with my wife & friends - rather than whizzing around like a hoon as I normally do!

Anyway, here's a slideshow from their day accompanied by Eva Cassidy singing Songbird; which her step sister also sang so beautifully in the church. Anyone revisiting this post will note the change from Amy Winehouse which was previously used as it struck me in a moment of inspiration over lunch today that Eva may be even more appropriate.

More weddings. This was a fun day, some rain, some sun, some rain, some sun..... you get the idea. I've not had a wet wedding at Birtsmorton Court as yet, so hoped this wasn't gonna be the one, and thankfully there was a bright spell to get some fab shots around the fabulous grounds despite the earlier uncertainty.

I'll keep this post brief though as I'm officially having this week off so work is off limits...but a little slideshow doesn't hurt hey.

Sausage Rollers

Yesterday Ali & I went to a friends wedding in Barnes, London. For a change I was a guest, not the photographer (although my camera did come along). It's great to have a day off from work and watch as someone else has to arrange all the group shots and bob up and down at all the right moments in order to catch those fleeting memories. Thankfully for Alec & Victoria the day was a super one, with some fine British weather - which wasn't the case for my weddings earlier in the week. Anyway, I'll perhaps include a few snaps later of their wedding as my reason for this post was to pop these couple of cute shots of Daisy up.

Friday morning Ali had these rollers in her hair ready for the wedding we were off to. Daisy took a keen interest in these, and strangely called them Sausage Rollers (not Sticky Rollers). Here they are in the morning doing 'girly stuff' - make-up, hair & nails. You can see why I'm so knowledgeable when it comes to brides preps.... living with two girls does help!



Then today, when I surfaced a little later than usual, I found Daisy rather proudly sporting the Sausage Roller look. She has absolutely no idea what they're for, but really found them quite fun.

Kingscote Barn - Gary and Anna

Ohh dear, the weather forecast didn't look great for this one. Where is the British summer I ask?

Still, in true Brit style we battled on and through some willing for it to be at least dry for a handful of photos it happened.

So here is a snapshot of the day I spent with Gary & Anna and Trinity Church & Kingscote Barn.

A wet start at Holy Trinity Church.....let's hope it's dry at Kingscote Barn?

The kind vicar allowed me to take photos wherever I wanted - bonus.

This is a fantastic room in the church, really lovely for signing of the register.

Kinsgcote Barn has good capacity for guests (something like 120 - I believe). Tables here were all on the ground level, although they can be extended up to the balcony.

....outside it was still a little damp. Nothing an umbrella can't stop though!

TV, chocolates and a laptop for company

Tonight I had great plans to get some exercise and go out for a bike ride, however rain soon put a dampener on that idea! Instead I appear to be sitting in watching 'Dangerous Jobs For Girls' with a tin of chocolates and a laptop for company.

With the Internet as my friend I soon made this great discovery though........ Wordle. What you ask? Well let me enlighten you. Click here to check it out.

It's a tecchie designed website that basically takes a load of words from your blog and muddles them about to form one of these word clouds (as they are called). Here's the one it generated from my blog - cool huh?

I'm not too sure of it's purpose; maybe a T'Shirt print or mouse mat would look good - who knows, we'll have to wait and see.

And just for you Amy, I got one made up from your wedding blog too - sweet.

It's my birthday....

....or at least it was last Friday, and today my family popped over to say hi with some pressies. Daisy however was of the understanding everyone had come to see her. I simply agreed and spent some time with the little one's (Daisy & her cousins) at the park. It gave me an excuse to take some photos with my new lens too.

Eva had packed Daisy a rucksack with 'Patrick'. This isn't a look she normally sports but was more that happy to wear it all day. In fact there were tears when it came to taking it off at bedtime.
