Ian & Carly - 24th Oct 2009
Late October weddings still offer great light, albeit the days are a tad shorter with the looming end to British Summertime! If I wasn't already using fast primes, I'd certainly be bringing them out now (is that too techie - you'll know what an earth I'm on about if you're a photographer at least!).
Ian and Carly's wedding at Manor House Hotel, Moreton In Marsh had some uncertainty about it earlier in the year, following Carly's very unexpected stroke. Yet, through I'm sure much hardship, the two of them with support from their families kept the date and made it a day to remember. For someone who only recently started to regain use of her limbs, Carly got about with grace - not even falling on the stairs to and fro the ceremony!
The wedding was fairly small with 40 guests for the ceremony, but this kept a nice feel and meant I got to know many of the guests personally - some more than others! Let's say it's not often at a wedding I have a group of 6 people all kiss me (yeah, the guys and the girls!). As a sober photographer it's surprising what drunk guests entertain me with - this weeks being my apparent Daniel Craig look-a-like! (That's soo far from the truth it's unreal, but good to see beer goggles working well still).

Manor House Hotel rooms are a touch on the dark side, making life hard for wedding photographers, but choosing a great spot always helps. Thanks to the make-up lady who popped Carly in the light!
Manor House Hotel has two options on rooms for a civil ceremony, this is one of them.
Carly: "Don't worry Matt, I can't walk fast down the aisle"
Matt: "Excellent"
The truth was - 3 seconds from start to finish. Was it the wedding day adrenaline?
According to the guests these drinks had serious kick - and certainly look like they would too.
For anyone who has not been to Manor House Hotel, it had a refurbishment back in 2007 when we had the super floods and now looks fantastic. It's clean and modern inside, which has to be said is a refreshing change to some hotels I come across. The food was also lovely - thank you kindly Ian & Carly for the invite to join you.
Trouble with the fake eyelashes - yeah, that's it I'm sure.
Yep, for the first shot (which is the one on the right in fact) we had indeed left Carly's flowers back in the hotel. Pretty standard practice, after all "they get really heavy"! If I had a £1 for every time I heard that said :-) Note to all future brides: big isn't always better.
All those benches and I made Carly stand up - have I no consideration?
Manor House Hotel by night (are you getting the Halloween vibe now?)
And a little wedding slideshow too..... enjoy.
