Cotswolds wedding photography - Wesley House, Winchcombe

2010 weddings have kicked off and my first of the year saw me in Winchcombe at Wesley House for a pretty chilly winter wedding. With snow on the ground it was necessary to take it a tad slower than usual, not only for myself but also the guests who we coaxed outside for a couple of group photos!

I must confess....I did engage in baby talk at this point. Something of a specialist subject of mine.




It's worth noting Georgina hadn't even considered a shawl - brave girl.







Above is one of my favourite photos from the day as she walked into Wesley House (The first time). Yep, shortly after this was taken she left to go back out and in (long story) due to natures calling!




Wesley House is 'cosy' for space when you're a photographer - especially when you don't want to block the guests view. A huge amount of backlighting from behind the Bride and Groom, dropping off into near darkness really makes it hard for photos. The irony is, the lovely registrar was happy for me to take photos from wherever, whenever........problem was the Bride and Groom were facing one way most the time.......away from the light - doh!








Cool huh - Wesley House was wonderfully decorated for a winter wedding. Very warm and inviting.

I don't often put group wedding photos up on my blog. BUT....this one was special. I mentioned Wesley House was small inside right (well compared to Manor Houses, Castles etc)? So with space at a premium and good light outside, this weekends group shots were taken across the main road through Winchcombe. Voila!
Thankfully snow conditions does keep the number of motorists down, and freezing temperatures keeps guests moving in and out pretty quickly!



One street, one alley, one balcony.
Three couple portraits, all within 30 seconds of the Wesley House front door. Perfect for a chilly day with next to no time before we lost the light.




Did I mention wedding details? Wedding flowers anyone? They had loads of them - Tulips too, my favourite (can a guy have favourite flowers?).

Snow in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Christmas soon whizzed past and we're now well into the New Year. Snow has fallen around Cheltenham, making tomorrows wedding commute possibly more problematic than usual - ahh well.....best take a warm coat, wellies and a flask just in case!

A quick update of a few family photos before next weeks wedding post though, as we've been out and about recently in the snow - seeing as this year Daisy appears to actually like it!

Daisy's hat is a classic. Warm and cosy, cool & colourful - just one downside.....has a tendency to drop down over her eyes!


......and back peddling here a little to some time just after Christmas seeing friends near Winchester.


Should I be taking photos or observing that a very excited Daisy doesn't accidentally fall into the ice cold pond?

Wedding photography favourites 2009

The title possible is a giveaway as to what this post is all about, so no real need to explain anything here!
I did feel however, it's always my chance at the end of a year to look back, reflect and say thanks to the many couples whose weddings I spent time at, enjoyed and produced some great photos from.
It's always hard to select just a handful of favourite photos, so i've tried to include good variety here, rather than a photo from each and every wedding this year. Sorry for those of you therefore who haven't made it, you were most probably the weddings earlier in the year, that now make up my distant memory as I prepare for 2010 and 2011.
Yes that's correct, 2011 weddings are indeed being booked now, so any avid blog readers out there who are yet to contact me (as I often find you exist....and sometime too late!) now is the time to drop me a line to check availability. 2010 is also shaping up nicely with 80% booked up; if you're still to book therefore contact me soon to avoid disappointment!
I've blogged previously about what makes a great photo (for me anyhow) yet still understand a wedding day is always about you and your guests as much as it is about beautiful light, great composition, killer expressions...yada, yada, yada!
My aim is to be remembered equally for the experience you have when working with me as well as the buzz you get afterwards from the photos. I hope you feel this when you see the photos below and get to experience it on your wedding day.....all you lucky future clients out there reading this!!!
